POSITION SUMMARY:                

This position identifies and transports vehicles among various locations within the facility. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Experience driving a variety of vehicles, to include driving compact, mid-size and large trucks
  • Experience parking in confined spaces and parallel parking
  • Experience operating a manual and automatic transmission.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a Basic level.
  • Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain internal forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and strong initiative.
  • Ability to think logically and make sound decisions.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.

Preferred

  • Experience operating a forklift at OSHA standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary

  • Identifies and marks vehicles for export by port of destination.
  • Drives the vehicles to the staging area in Seaboard Marine’s premises for loading onto vessels.
  • Drives and secures the vehicles into containers and car racks for shipping.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings (i.e. vehicles, people checking equipment, etc.) at all times.

Secondary

  • Operates a forklift to maneuver inoperable vehicles to the staging area and/or containers.
  • Responsible for receiving transporters and providing assistance during the check-in process.
  • Inspects all incoming vehicles and enters information into the hand-held computers.
  • Must maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The employee is continuously required to walk, talk and hear.
  • The employee is continuously required to stand and walk.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  
  • The employee must continuously use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch, craw or twist; and smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Report safety hazards.

  • Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by immediate supervisor.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Refuse any unsafe task or operation.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Receives direction from the Vehicle Receiving Header.  Does not exercise supervision over any position.

 

CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed primarily in outdoors; exposed to changing weather (temperature & humidity) and outdoor environments, during day and night shifts.
  • The employee continuously works near moving vehicles (cars, trucks, etc).
  • The employee is continuously exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.
