POSITION SUMMARY:                  

This position is responsible for delivering full life-cycle reporting solutions using IBM’s Cognos Business Intelligence tools.  As a BI Developer/Report Writer you are responsible for the analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of complex analytical reports and KPI’s through a central Data Warehouse.  You will be interacting with stakeholders throughout the organization and will assist in identifying and documenting requirements to justify requests and/or the need for additional data sources or content. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • A minimum of three (3) years of work experience that include business requirements gathering and business intelligence report writing using IBM’s Cognos BI reporting tools (Workspace, Query Studio, Analysis Studio, Report Studio).
  • Proven experience in effectively partnering with business teams to deliver their goals and outcomes by designing user-friendly reports and dashboards.
  • Ability to communicate (read and write) effectively in a business environment in English.
  • Advanced computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Excel (Power Pivot /Power View).
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the keenness or experience of interacting with global teams of different cultures or nationalities.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and assignments.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Business Management, Statistics or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to communicate (read and write) effectively in a business environment in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with Microsoft database technologies (SQL Server).
  • Experience with Microsoft Server Integration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS) and Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Experience with data profiling and modeling.
  • Experience assisting users in software systems specific to Maritime/Freight Forwarding industry (such as for example:  ocean services, trucking and logistics, container and port terminals operations, warehouse management, etc.).

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary

  • Work closely with BI Team and other departments to gather and document requirements for the maintenance, enhancement, and/or development of reports.
  • Interact via telephone and e-mail with domestic and overseas employees in the Caribbean and Latin America.
  • Design complex reports as well as web-based dashboards.
  • Develop, code, test, and deliver reports, KPI’s, dashboards and data warehouse solutions.
  • Create documentation for report(s), KPIs and dashboards with corresponding logic and processes.
  • Work with BI team to ensure accurate and complete testing; including assisting with determining test scenarios and acceptance criteria for the designs, data quality and reconciliation checks.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, research and resolve post-implementation reported issues.
  • Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the business, business processes and systems used for business operations. 
  • Provide timely feedback to end users including recommendations for business and/or systems process improvements.

Secondary

  • Assist in planning BI projects and setting realistic deadlines for completion.
  • Assists in ETL process.
  • Work on special projects, as required.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Reports directly to the Business Intelligence Manager. Does not exercise supervision over any other position.

 

CONDITIONS:

  • Indoors office.  Exposed to controlled temperature and office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
